How do I deter a Blue Heron? Long Valley- Morris County NJ
I saw it, a huge one, that huge dinosaur like bird standing by my pond!! What do I do?
If you are a seasoned pond owner or a new pond owner, the truth is the above is going to happen to you eventually, even in New Jersey.
Should you happend to see the elusive blue heron hanging out by your pond one morning or evening just run out there clapping and yelling, it will most likely fly away. If you have a dog, let them loose, this will certainly get that bird to fly away.
The easiest and quickest thing to do right away is add a net to your pond. Just cover the pond until you have an opportunity to take other precautions.
