Fall Pond Netting and Winter Shutdown Service

Getting your pond ready for the fall and winter is integral in maintaining the health of your fish. Our fall pond netting, winter pond shutdown, and winter pond care package is a great way to ensure your fish are bundled up correctly for our sometimes harsh winters. |

Fall Pond Netting and Winter Shutdown Service
(This service can be included in all of your Maintenance Memberships)
For the Fall Pond Netting and Winter Shutdown Service A Frog’s Dream Aquatic Services will visit your home twice. Once to net the pond and prepare your pond for the winter shutdown, and a second visit to shut the pond down for this winter. Below is what is included in each visit. You can also just have us net the pond or just shut the pond down for the winter. We also provide a Winter Shutdown Service for Pondless Waterfalls.
Our Initial Visit: The Fall Pond Netting Service (On or about October 1st)
A Frog’s Dream will cut back all aquatic plants, clean your filter and filter pads, net out as much debris as possible, install pond netting by using staples (we can provide PVC tenting for an additional cost), and apply the initial dose of fall formulated beneficial bacteria. We also ask that you have your aerator and deicer, if you have them, available so we can install them during this time.

Second Visit: Winter Shutdown Service (After Thanksgiving Depending on weather)
A Frog’s Dream will remove all tropical plants, clean leaves off netting, pull netting tight and re-staple if necessary, pull pump from system if necessary, drain and disconnect any filtration systems, and apply dose of fall formulated bacteria. Aerators and deicers will be plugged in at this time to provide ice protection during the winter.

Pondless Waterfall and Fountain Winterization

Shut down Pondless or Fountain system for winter, pull pump and blow out pipes if necessary, and cover fountain if necessary. Some waterfalls and fountains will receive a dose of RV Antifreeze (safe for the environment) to help prevent cracking in system.
Winter Pond Care and MINK Prevention Package
We offer a winter pond care and mink prevention package for the cold and snowy season. This package will offer peace of mind to pond owners with a pond expert visiting your pond once a month. This package will span the months of January, February and March. We will start our Mink prevention service at time of your pond winterization. During our visits we will visually inspect your fish, check the opening in the ice and make adjustments if necessary, continue to add beneficial bacteria, and prepare your pond to deter mink from eating your fish. Although our method is not full proof we have seen great results in deterring the mink during the winter.
Should your de-icer or aerator stop working you can call us and we will be out to replace it with no service call fees, product replacement costs will apply. This package is great for those who leave NJ for the winter.
